"I'm telling you, Jeff said he saw a Mewtwo. He saw it and sent me a screenshot."
Bill jammed his phone in Phil's face. The light illuminated his face as if he were in a hostage video.
"Jesus fuckin Christ, Bill. What the hell. I can't drive with that thing in my face."
"Well, don't second guess me, man. I'm telling you, they just released Mewtwo and Jeff thinks it's downtown."
"I'm not second guessing you. We shouldn’t be downtown."
"We can put in a 10-10."
"I'm not fuckin calling us in as out of service just so you can find a Mewtwo."
"But think of it, a Mewtwo!"
"Yeah, I am thinking, and I don't want to get fired."
The radio chatter continued with an officer saying he didn't have good reception in the basement.
Bill held out the phone, scouring the surrounding streets. "C'mon, ya little bastard. Where are you?"
"Squad 530," the crackled voice called out. "Squad 530 to assist 502 at Washburn and 51st Street. Shots fired. ”
"Copy," Bill said into the receiver. "There, there he is."
Phil flicks the lights and sirens on, cut traffic in half as he swung the car 180.
"No, no, no. Go back, Phil. He was right there."
"Let me see that," Phil said, holding out one hand.
As soon as Bill felt Phil grab the phone, he knew it was going to be pieces by the side of the road.
[I knew nothing about Pokemon Go nor the radio codes for LAPD. I spent more time researching than writing. 🥸]
